iDashboard February Update

Our development team is currently putting the final touches on the latest iDashboard update. This will be by far the biggest technical undertaking by iProperty since the initial release, and it will be the culmination of more than 10 months planning and development. Needless to say, we’re pretty excited about it!

During that time, we’ve been listening to your much valued feedback, gauging what you do and don’t like about iDashboard, and by far the most responses we’ve received were concerning website updates, report generation, and irksome property categories.

To that end, we’ve made some pretty hefty changes to the architecture and codebase of iDashboard, allowing for faster website updates, faster report generation, and given more power to our support team enabling them to respond even more quickly.

We’ve also completely revamped our property categories, consolidating some of the more esoteric portal-specific types into easy to use selections, and we’re also now providing links to your properties on every portal you list your properties with.

But the vast majority of our changes probably won’t be visible to you. This is because the upgrades and changes have mostly been behind-the-scenes. On the hardware front, we’ve added to our servers, upgraded our databases and sped up the internal network between machines.

On the software side, we’ve upgraded our software platforms, and increased the number of servers available to iDashboard for things like report generation. We’ve also changed our backend messaging queue to Redis and switched databases from SQLServer to PostgreSQL. The end result of this will be a much faster and smoother experience in using iDashboard.

These upgrades form the foundation for our vision for iDashboard, and is just the tip of the iceberg for what we have in store this year – but before we can do any of the exciting stuff we had to get our house in order, so to speak.

So we hope you enjoy our latest upgrade. We will be releasing more information about each of the changes over the next 2 weeks, so stay tuned!
