The Success of Social Media in Real Estate

Image of a speech bubble containing real estate iconsSocial Media is not something that a lot of industries give enough importance to. At least that’s the way it was in the past. Now more businesses are beginning to realise the importance of it. The Real Estate industry is one industry that is taking more steps towards making a social media presence. Each company may take a different approach or experiment with what works best for them.

One Real Estate agency decided to set up their own online community. It is in a blog form and covers information that is important to their local community. They cover events and allow guest posts by the area businesses. So it creates a neat “go to” place for the local residents. Due to its success the same company took an additional step. They added a coffee shop to the side of their agency. This way those that want to come together in the community have a common meeting ground where they can enjoy a cup of coffee together. This company focused on both online and off line social marketing with good success.

Another Real Estate firm took a different approach and utilised the power of Twitter, which is a well-recognised social media platform. Here the company took to problem solving. By looking at tweets that indicated a problem, the company would respond by pointing them to appropriate sites and blogs that could perhaps provide the solution to their issue.

Another Company decided to capitalise on the social exposure they could get with Pinterest. They decided to pin some of their properties and happenings. They focus on high profile properties so this in itself created a curiosity interest and as result they managed to generate some good leads. They found that this particular platform was able to push immediate traffic to their corporate site, which in turn helps with the Google organic ranking. At the same time they were able to build their brand reputation. The company was smart in being able to capitalise on all these important benefits.

Another platform that has been somewhat ignored by the Real Estate industry, but piqued the interest of at least one agency is Instagram. Using photos as their voice the Instagram platform was an ideal choice. They combined property with local landmark photos and cross promoted the local businesses. This was a recipe for success for social media marketing at another level.

Finally Real Estate Company that decided to make its presence known in the social media did so through the process of video marketing. Their videos are consistent and varied in their content yet remaining focused on what pertains to the R.E. market either directly or indirectly.

These are all prime examples of how different social medial platforms can work to scale up business. They can be utilised online, off line or ideally a combination of both. Those that are more innovative and committed to Real Estate social media marketing are going to be a step above their competitors.
