iDashboard April Update

idashboard april real estate software updateAt iProperty we are constantly reviewing, updating and maintaining our real estate software, iDashboard. We’ve just released the latest version of iDashboard with a range of improvements and functionality enhancements across the board.

What’s New and Exciting…

…on the marketing front?

  • Email to SMS. This allows users of popular products such as Rockend REST to use the iDashboard SMS gateway and SMS credits purchased within iDashboard. We are hoping that with our competitive pricing that many agencies will be able to save on their monthly SMS bills.
  • There is a new grid-like view when selecting a template for newsletters or general email compositions, reducing the need to scroll the page.
  • Automated email alerts now have the ability to include listings from other iDashboard accounts. This is great if you have multiple offices in a small area, and want to market all your new listings to one central contacts database.

…in the Real Estate tab?

  • You can now do mass duplications of an appraisal. This is great if you are listing a large number of apartments or units in a single building. Simply create your appraisal with your advertisement and images, then use the new copy function. This new function also allows you to specify the Unit/Lot number for each individual copy, making the duplication process even faster.
  • The Offers within a property (on the summary tab) are now in chronological order, with the newest displaying first.
  • You can now upload and modify attachments on Withdrawn listings, allowing you to continue uploading signed documents and agreements after the property has been removed from market.

…in the Contacts tab?

  • A note is now added to your Contact’s activity screen when their allocation period expires.
  • We now display the Contact ID when you are within a Contact. This ID is the same ID we display in some of the contact search boxes throughout iDashboard.
  • Within a Contact you can now see what properties they are associated with as a Tenant. This is similar to how you can already see what properties a Contact is associated with as a Vendor, Purchaser or Solicitor.
  • The Contacts CSV importer now allows for partners information, and also has a handy undo operation. The undo operation allows you to effectively cancel an import and remove all the contacts that were created – ideal for accidental imports.

…in Tasks?

  • Super users can now filter their task screen to exlcude upcoming and overdue tasks that belong to other agents. Super users can also view the overdue and upcoming tasks for an individual agent, allowing key employees such as managers to track an agents performance on action plans.

What other existing features have been streamlined?

  • The pagination on the Action Plans search screen now allows you to display page 2.
  • The Action Plans search screen now obeys the ‘Tasks by me’ checkbox when searching.
  • Offices with a large number of employees (more than 15) can now easily re-order their employees if they have to scroll the page.

These updates were deployed late last night – we hope you find them valuable and that they improve your workflow.

Unit Development website for Perfect Builders

Perfect Builders approached us to help them develop a website with the aim to market their new property development project in Lara, Victoria.

project development marketing website interactive floorplan

Dubbed “Canopus Mews”, the project had no brand, no identity, and no website. iProperty provided a basic, budget package that has been proven time and time again – including a logo design, eye-catching website, photo gallery and interactive units on a plan.

The team can manage their pricing, alter details about the units and more. In addition, they can update all text throughout the site using a simple content management system that allows you to edit text by typing into the site itself. This has been a popular feature amongst property developers.

Updating the site – administration area

administering content in our real estate development websites

A new feature on this site is the integration with Open3DHouse – a virtual 3D tour technology that helps prospect buyers visualise the units.

This is perfect for developments where the actual properties have not been built yet. There’s no photos to show off, and renderings by architects can be very costly. This is a good compromise, and even allows visitors to add in their furniture, rugs, and paint walls to see if it’s the right match for them.

iProperty’s solution demonstrated here is more cost-effective than you might imagine. Contact us today for more information.

Breaking conventions of real estate website interaction – Nicholas Scott

A new approach towards developing agency sites

new website for nicholas scott real estate

Late last year we posted this article about user focussed design and rethinking how users should engage with real estate agencies online. We drafted up some designs and developed a prototype, and shortly after found the Melbourne-based real estate agency, Nicholas Scott, were happy to be early adopters while they undertook a brand refresh. We have a few other agencies releasing sites based on a similar idea soon, but more on them later.

The end result is fantastic, the client’s very happy and we’re proud of the result. The simplicity of Nicholas Scott’s new logo and corporate identity is a perfect match with the new search flow that has been developed as an option on our real estate platform. The website has been launched today – check it out at www.nicholasscott.com.au.

So what’s so different about this website?

Let’s run through the new homepage, search interface, and results page.

Well first of all, all 3 of these critical aspects are combined in the one easy to use area on the homepage.

Rather than show random listings, latest properties, feature properties, sold properties or prestige properties on the homepage (I’m betting you readers out there are all pretty familiar with this approach…), we thought we’d try and introduce imagery on the homepage that was more interactive and had a greater chance of being relevant to a user coming across it. So we’ve provided an interactive grid of property listings that can be manipulated on the fly by refining search parameters above it.

A grid of 6 property listings, large images, with pricing and suburb information and more informaiton if you roll your mouse over an image.  This page of 6 listings can be scrolled away, left or right, using the navigation controls to see the next lot of 6.

Some might say – “there’s too many properties to scroll through!”

We disagree. It’s all about the application. If it’s a large property portal then sure, it’s not a fit –  however if you’re a typical agency that may have between say 20-60 properties in their portfolio at the one time it starts to make more sense.

Users will see the latest properties display first, in a grid of 6 images, and scrolling to the left or right with the arrows slides the next 6 properties across – you could liken it to walking past the Agency itself and viewing the window cards. Rolling over the image with a mouse shows more details about the property.

hover over property results

Another way of looking at it is this – if you enter a real estate website and select in a search menu your Property Type, Maximum Price and Suburb, then click “Search” – that has already accumulated 4 clicks or interactions by the viewer. By adopting this new approach, 4 clicks on the property slider will have yielded a quick glance at 24 properties in a beautiful, scrolling screen and reducing the requirement to even think about inputting any search parameters. Users can make a quick decision about what properties an agency specialises in and decide whether they want to engage further.

Then there’s the search feature. We’ve made that simple too. For Nicholas Scott, they’ve got:

  1. Buy / Rent / Commercial buttons. This is defaulted to “Buy” as this suits Nicholas Scott’s market the most.
  2. A price slider
  3. Suburb selector

For most, that will be all they’d need. For those who have specific requirements – they can select “More Options” and be greeted with further search options, including:

  1. Bedroom slider
  2. Bathroom slider
  3. Car space slider
  4. Login / Register buttons

Try it out for yourself. When we were playing around with the prototype, many of us felt as though it was almost too easy and that it may have been missing something. This was strictly due to the fact we’re simply so accustomed to conventional sites (us especially!). Rest assured it was simplicity fooling us – never were we in a situation were we found it hard to navigate or find property. The bonus is it’s enjoyable to use. It’s our honest opinion that we’ll see more sites sprout up like this one, as well as (hopefully) more variation and different approaches to designing user interaction on real estates. Why follow the status quo when you can lead the market?

Other features on their site include Translators, automatic Facebook updates, automatic Twitter updates and a featured Video (coming soon). It also contains our standard Premium offering of Walkscore, StreetView and social sharing on all properties. You’ll also notice (see above) we’ve included a traditional list view of properties if you access them via the main menu, with a refine search featured in the left hand column.

We’re always trying to build user focused functionality that assists real estate agents, and on every project we consider different ways to display them.

While we’re certain this site will be a success for Nicholas Scott, we’d appreciate any feedback you have on this site. You can read more about real estate software and website packages on our products site.

Bending it like Beckham with our web design templates

We’ve reviewed many alternative real estate website template packages on the market. If you’re in the market, you’ll have developed a picture of the good and the bad.

One area where we feel iProperty stands proud, is that we not only supply a diverse range of default layouts – it’s that we view this as only a starting point. Rather than just recolour them with your company logo, slap it together and there you go…. we’re happy to move items around, alter the propertions, insert new features and then apply a beautiful design to it. We like to do our best and make sure it doesn’t look like a template site, and make sure it looks different to anything else we’ve created – all the while on a budget.

real-estate-website-design-examples

With iProperty, you can achieve an end result that’s a considerably different design to your competitors in the market – and depending on the functionality you’re after it’s usually with very little price variation to our package deals. So with this flexibility in mind, we’re not afraid of trying new things. Inventing new features. Designing new layouts. Following design trends, starting new ones and going to great lengths to achieve polished looking products.

real-estate-website-design-examples3

Our team of designers and developers involved in our real estate sites have been using our efficient and fast “Universe” platform since 2008. It’s efficient because it runs around 500 websites from the one core engine – and it runs them fast and reliably. We have default themes with standard real estate website functionality to include on your site. As far as the fundamentals are concerned, we’ve built everything your typical agency is after and more. It’s ready-made, and with our extensive, well-written codebase we can rapidly produce new functionality quickly.

We’ve also got a little more time to enjoy making the sites look great. And now that it’s proven and we’re so familiar with it – we can stretch the boundaries of what we provide you and come up with exciting new websites. And that’s what this year is about – we’re Bending it like Beckham!

So what’s this mean for you? Well.. if you’re interested in a website any time soon you should speak with us. We’re excited about what we build and we’re constantly trying to better our output from previous projects. And with a solid portfolio (you’ll have seen a glimpse of recent projects throughout this post), you can rest assured you’ll be working with a professional team and benefit from the solid results we constantly produce.

New website for Macquarie Real Estate

Macquarie Real Estate looked no further for listings management software and a great website design package when they came across iProperty’s solutions.

iProperty paid particular attention to maintaining the branded feel of their old website while coming up with something new, feature rich and easy to read. Macquarie’s new site features a large feature property slideshow, a suburb profile feature on the homepage and powerful search features allowing for keywords and map search functionality.

We help website users become more acquainted with the Macquarie team, with random team member profiles displaying on the homepage. After a recent survey, we found that the majority of those renting property are interested in finding team information instantly on the homepage. Macquarie’s site also makes it easy for renters with easy to find maintenance request forms and contact details prominent on every page.
